George Brooke (Bubba) Shields, age 79, of Nashville,TN, passed away February 7, 2020 at a local hospice after an extended illness. He was born and raised in Victoria, TX, to George and Sid Shields. He grew up in Victoria and after graduating from Victoria High School he attended The University of Houston on a golf scholarship. His college life was interrupted by his service in the Navy as a hospital corpsman in California. His voice recognition allowed him to become the leader of the U.S.Navy Choir. After his discharge from the Navy he later co-founded a para - medical company serving and assisting pulmonary patients with their problems. In 1985, Brooke moved to Nashville, TN. This brought him new friends and a reunion of old friends from Texas and California. They were happy to be making music together. Brooke was a great songwriter and gifted singer who loved making music for it was his life’s passion! Brooke (Bubba) was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Judy Shields (Stuart) Kay of DeRidder, LA; nephew, Geoffrey (Tiffany) Kay of Austin,TX; 2 great nephews, Jackson and Thomas; nephew, David (Rebekah) Kay of Dallas,TX; 1 great nephew, William, and one great niece, Lily Kay. Friends and loved ones are invited to A Memorial Service for Brooke in Nashville in the Chapel of Alive Hospice located at 1710 Patterson St. on Friday, February 28th at 12 PM. Chaplin Gene Lovelace will officiate. Cremation has been entrusted to Neighbours Life Celebration Services. The family deeply appreciates the love and care that the hospital staff and hospice workers provided to Brooke over an extended time during his illness.
