James Glenn Whitman, age 61 of Smyrna, TN died Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Centennial Medical Center. A native of Nashville, He was the son of Betty Frank Woodard- Whitman and the late James Cecil Whitman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and his beloved best friend, Rick Bratcher. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Jeanette Whitman; son, Taylor James Whitman(Alison); grandchildren, Lucas, Piper, and Westley James Cecil all of Murfreesboro. Taylor's best friend and sister, Jessica Bratcher(Kevin) of Lavergne; sisters, Julie Vickers of Nashville and Stacey Huber of Rockwood; best friend of many years, Tammy Jo Bratcher of Mt. Juliet and a host of other family and friends. James is a son of God and a follower of Jesus Christ, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and a true friend to many. He worked for Turner Seed Company for many years and was known as "Cornbread" to all who knew him there. James was full of life and made all who were around him laugh with his sweet and funny quotes and sayings. James would always say to his wife they went together like peas and carrots and the quote he said to her in his final goodbye, "Who loves you baby and she would reply "You do baby" then he replied, "I do and I always will". James work on earth may be done but his life has just begun. Services will be held at River Rock Baptist Church, 2248 State Hwy 99(New Salem Hwy), Murfreesboro, TN 37218 at 1 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020, with Bro. Kenny Davis of Morristown and Pastor of Bible Aires Baptist Church.
