Obituary of Edna Pauline Rothschild Champeau

Edna Pauline (Ledbetter) Rothschild Champeau died in Hendersonville, TN. on October 10, 2020 She was born in Huntsville, AR. on November 11, 1922, to Lemon and Oleva Dennis Ledbetter. She was the second of three daughters. Most of her youth was spent in Bristow, Okla., although her family moved several times during her high school years. She graduated from high school in Eunice, TX. While working on the U.S. Army Air Force base in Hobbs, N.M. during World War II she met Master Sergeant Kenneth Rothschild from New York City. They married in 1943 and moved to the Bronx, N.Y. after the war where they lived and raised their two sons until 1972 when they moved to Norman, Okla. While in New York she had several office jobs and worked for Far East Mercantile for 10 years where she was the office manager. Once in Norman, she worked at the University of Oklahoma's Civil Engineering and Environmental Science Department. She was an active member of the Westside Church of Christ for 36 years. Following her husband's death in 1983, she married Herb Champeau in 1989. She and Herb lived on the outskirts of Norman until his death in 2002. In 2004, she moved to Tennessee to be closer to family. Here she was a beloved member of the Madison Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sisters Nettie Adams and Gaye Cox. She is survived by her two sons Martin ( Martha) of Hendersonville, TN., Scott (Sue) of Topeka, Kan. and four grandchildren Mark ( Soraya), Meredith of Nashville, TN. and Joseph ( Jillian) of Hyattsville, MD., Daniel of Austin, TX., as well as nephews, niece and cousins. She had a long, blessed life...she loved all and was well-loved by all. Graveside services will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Okla. IN LIEU FLOWERS, contributions can be made to Ohio Valley University in Vienna, WV., or to the Madison Church of Christ in Madison, TN.
