Obituary of William Johnson Hurt, Jr

William Johnson Hurt, Jr. passed away from cancer peacefully on February 1, 2021, at the age of 64. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William Johnson and Ann Teasley Hurt. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Anne Marie; daughters, Megan (David) Stricker and Whitney (Adam) Potts; grandchildren, Sophie and Will; brother, Ben Hurt; sister, Lauren Hurt Houston; nephews, Bradley and John and father-in-law, Joseph (Mary) Blackshear. Bill is lovingly remembered by family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, cooking, preds hockey, he and Anne Marie's dogs, and spending time with his family especially hosting dinners, going on vacations, helping everyone with DIY projects, and taking the grandkids for rides on the lawnmower. Bill was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church and a longtime volunteer with Room in the Inn. He was kind, hardworking, and always willing to give a hand. The family will hold a private funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Room in the Inn, 705 Drexel St #2, Nashville, TN 37203.
