Melvin Dugger

Obituary of Melvin Guy Dugger

Melvin Guy Dugger, 80, of Gallatin, TN went home to be with the Lord on February 21st, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Gallatin, TN. He was born in Akron, Ohio on August 28th, 1940 to James Bruce Dugger and Dorothy Alice Woodliff Critchfield. Melvin served in the United States Marine Corps and later met his wife and the love of his life Nancy Hayden in Akron, Ohio. Melvin retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 35 years of service. Melvin and Nancy had a marriage people aspired to have for 58 years. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren. His son “Doug” had Melvin’s same sense of humor and they loved great food and shared a contagious laugh that lit up the entire room. “Debbie” was described as his “little girl” and he adored her. He loved how she cares for her family. Jeff was his strength and stronghold that he entrusted with anything he needed. Most important, Jeff was his football-watching partner. He was preceded in death by his son Melvin (Doug) Guy Dugger, Jr; parents, James Bruce Dugger and Dorothy Alice Woodliff Critchfield; and brother James Dugger, Jr. Melvin was survived by his beloved wife Nancy Lee Dugger; daughter-in-law, Tina Dugger, daughter, Deborah Lee King (and Rick King), son Jeffery Brown Dugger (and Crystal Dugger); brother Richard (Pat) Dugger, sister Bonnie Bazzel; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Melvin was a devout Christian and spoke about Jesus’s love every opportunity he had. When Melvin became unable to attend the church he and Nancy worshipped consistently at home as a media member of Family Worship Center (Swaggart Ministries). Melvin was described as a humble straight shooter, who always put everyone else before himself. He was also known as a hard worker and kind soul. He had a prankster side and was always playing jokes on his family. He loved his family and found reasons to celebrate with them every chance he could get. Most of his pictures either had Nancy by his side, his puppies on his lap, or a baby in his arms. He loved playing cards and especially Euchre. His family knows he is in heaven but will miss him dearly. A celebration of life service and reception will be conducted on March 6th, 2021 at Beulah Land Cowboy Church in Martin, TN from 4:00-6:00pm. Visitation will be held 3:30-4:00pm with the family. We would love for all that knew and loved him to celebrate his wonderful life with his family.
