Obituary of Jane Elizabeth Sherberg

Our beloved friend, Jane Sherberg, passed quietly into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 12 at her home in Nashville, TN. Jane was born in Detroit, Michigan, and is the daughter of Anna Ruth and Michael T. Johnson. She was a woman of God who loved her husband, family and friends well. Jane and her husband, Jon, were studio singers and founded Sea Mountain Ministries, an organization dedicated to spreading God’s Word through music. Christian music was their passion. Jane and Jon met for the first time in Estes Park, Colorado. They began their early ministry in California, growing under the leadership of Pastor John McArthur. They moved to Nashville in the late 70’s and spent many years traveling and doing church concerts whenever and wherever they could. Jane had a rich and personal knowledge of God’s Word and loved to share it. For several years she wrote and taught a study on “God With Us in the Wilderness.” She was not only a wonderful teacher, but truly lived out this study as she cared for her husband Jon, and also through her own years of declining health. Jane loved Jon unconditionally, demonstrating what that meant each day as she cared for Jon over many years of his illness…”to have and to hold from this day forward, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance” This truly was Jane. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Debra Johnson from Charlottesville, VA, her sister, Sandra Graham from New York City, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is being planned for the Spring.
