Obituary of William David Horne

William “David” Horne, 75, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. David’s death was a result of Parkinson’s disease which he fought bravely against for many years. David was born in Hartsville, SC, August 21, 1946. He was married to Nancy G Horne for 47 years. He was father to Heather Horne Birdwell (Zac) and Paw Paw to Lincoln David of Cookeville, TN David was a U.S. Marine who served his country in the Vietnam War. David will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father and a friend to those he met. David was a dog lover and very fond of watching football. He was a member of the Pot Belly Club from the old Hermitage Fitness Center in Hermitage, TN. The fitness routine was donuts on Friday and pizza once a month. He never missed “working out” with the guys. He retired in 2012, from the State of TN working for the Department of Children Services with placement of children and later in assisting kids transitioning out of state custody to attend college. He loved his work and the people he worked with daily. He never complained of having a dull day at work. He is survived by his sisters: Sara (Gene) Sylvester, Florence SC; Carolyn Jones, Florence, SC and Gladys West, Hartsville, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. There is no doubt that David is now resting in the arms of his Savior and rejoicing with all who have gone before him. Cremation is being handled by Neighbours Life Celebration Services in Nashville, TN. A celebration of life service will be held later for David. If you wish to honor David please make a memorial contribution to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN in honor of David.
